Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of four active components: - Erythropoietin, a glycoprotein hormone that stimulates red blood cell production by acting on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow. - Ferric carboxymaltose, an intravenous iron preparation used to treat iron deficiency anemia by replenishing body iron stores and supporting hemoglobin synthesis. - Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin), essential for DNA synthesis and normal maturation of red blood cells. - Folic acid, a B-vitamin required for DNA synthesis and cell division, especially important in rapidly dividing cells such as those in the bone marrow. The combination is primarily used to treat or prevent anemia—especially in populations with high risk or increased requirements (e.g., extremely low birth weight infants, patients with refractory anemia)—by addressing multiple potential deficiencies that can impair effective erythropoiesis. Clinical studies have shown this combined regimen reduces transfusion requirements and improves hematologic parameters compared to monotherapy[1][9].
