Overview
Erzhu Jiedu Recipe (EZJDR) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used primarily for the treatment of hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC), hepatitis B cirrhosis with hyperalphafetoproteinemia, and liver precancerous lesions. EZJDR consists of multiple herbal components, with at least 138 compounds identified, including sesquiterpenoids, diterpenoids, anthraquinones, flavonoids, among others. Preclinical studies indicate that tricyclic diterpenoids from EZJDR have the highest systemic exposure and show cytotoxic effects on hepatoma cells by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest via mitochondrial and p53-p21-associated signaling pathways. Clinical evidence suggests the formula can lower liver biomarkers such as alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and has beneficial effects on liver function and disease progression in HBV-related conditions[1][2][3].
