Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ES-1902 is a long-acting injectable formulation of finasteride being developed by Eusol Biotech for the treatment of hair loss, specifically androgenetic alopecia. The drug utilizes Eusol's proprietary In-Situ Depots (ISD) technology, which allows for the sustained release of finasteride following a subcutaneous injection. This approach aims to provide a more convenient alternative to daily oral finasteride, potentially improving patient adherence and reducing the frequency of administration. Finasteride acts as a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase (primarily type 2), which is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By lowering DHT levels in the scalp, ES-1902 helps to prevent hair follicle miniaturization and promote hair regrowth.
