Overview

Vimelea Therapeutics is developing a preclinical-stage platform of small molecule therapeutics for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, with a primary focus on cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). The compounds are small molecule analogues of ES-62, a protein produced by parasitic worms with anti-inflammatory properties. These immunomodulating small molecules are designed to selectively modulate myeloid and lymphoid immune cells involved in disease pathology while minimizing toxicity to healthy tissues. The platform is based on technology licensed from the University of Strathclyde and University of Glasgow, and the compounds also have potential applications in treating arthritis, asthma, and other chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The company was acquired by Alys Pharmaceuticals in February 2024.
