Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Esberitox is an approved herbal medicine (phytotherapeutic) developed and marketed by Schaper & Brümmer. It consists of a proprietary immune-activating complex derived from three main botanical ingredients: *Echinacea* (purple coneflower, specifically *Echinacea purpurea* and *Echinacea pallida*), *Baptisia tinctoria* (wild indigo root), and *Thuja occidentalis* (white cedar). Indicated for the supportive treatment of viral common cold diseases and frequently recurring respiratory tract infections, it functions as an immunomodulator. The mechanism involves enhancing the body's natural defense mechanisms by stimulating the activity of the non-specific immune system, specifically increasing the production and phagocytic activity of macrophages and T-lymphocytes. It has been marketed for over 85 years and holds marketing authorizations in numerous countries, including Germany and China.
