Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eschscholtzia extract + valerian extract is a herbal combination product developed and marketed by PiLeJe Laboratoire (PhytoPrevent) under the brand name Phytostandard d'Eschscholtzia et de Valériane. It is indicated for the management of sleep disorders, particularly adjustment insomnia, and anxiety. The product combines 80 mg of *Eschscholtzia californica* (California poppy) extract and 32 mg of *Valeriana officinalis* (Valerian) root extract per tablet. Its mechanism of action involves the synergistic effects of valerian, which modulates GABAergic transmission, and eschscholtzia, which provides sedative and opioid-like effects. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing insomnia severity and anxiety scores with good tolerability and no evidence of addiction.
