Overview

This is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs, escitalopram and spironolactone. Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) primarily used to treat major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder by increasing serotonin levels in the brain[3][4]. Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic and aldosterone antagonist used mainly for hypertension, heart failure, edema, and off-label for acne; it works by blocking aldosterone receptors in the kidneys to promote sodium excretion while retaining potassium[2][6]. There is no evidence of an approved fixed-dose combination product containing both agents; their co-administration may occur off-label but requires careful monitoring due to potential drug interactions.
