Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Esflurbiprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and the S-enantiomer of flurbiprofen, developed as a topical treatment for pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders. It works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX), an enzyme responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. Esflurbiprofen is formulated primarily as patches or topical preparations to deliver high concentrations directly to affected tissues. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing joint pain and inflammation in conditions such as knee osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, and ankle sprains[1][2][5][6][7].
