Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ESI-053 is a **clinical-grade human embryonic stem cell line** originally developed by AgeX Therapeutics and sublicensed to ImStem Biotechnology for generation of mesenchymal stem cells used to manufacture the investigational allogeneic cell therapy IMS001. It is not a small-molecule drug or finished branded medicine; rather, it is an upstream pluripotent stem cell starting material created under current Good Manufacturing Practice conditions and used as the source for an off-the-shelf, industrially scalable MSC therapy platform. In disclosed development programs, ESI-053-derived cells underpin IMS001 programs in COVID-19, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and multiple sclerosis.
