Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Esipram is a branded generic antidepressant marketed by Dios Lifesciences, containing escitalopram oxalate as its active pharmaceutical ingredient. As a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), it works by specifically targeting the serotonin transporter (SERT) to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin into the presynaptic neuron, thereby increasing the concentration of the neurotransmitter in the synaptic cleft. This mechanism helps to improve mood and alleviate symptoms of emotional distress. Esipram is primarily indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder and various anxiety disorders. It is available in oral tablet formulations of 10mg and 20mg.
