Overview
Eskata (A-101) is a high-concentration (40% w/w) hydrogen peroxide topical solution developed by Aclaris Therapeutics for the treatment of raised seborrheic keratoses (SKs) in adults. It was the first FDA-approved topical, non-invasive treatment for this condition. While the exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, it is believed to induce oxidative damage to the SK lesions through the generation of free hydroxyl radicals via the Fenton reaction, leading to localized tissue destruction. It is administered as an in-office treatment by healthcare providers using a specialized pen-like applicator.
