Overview

Esketamine + lidocaine is a combination of two small molecule drugs, esketamine and lidocaine. Esketamine is the S-enantiomer of ketamine and acts primarily as an NMDA receptor antagonist, used for treatment-resistant depression and as an anesthetic. It provides rapid antidepressant effects and has dissociative properties. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby inhibiting nerve signal transmission to provide local anesthesia or antiarrhythmic effects. The combination may be used in procedural sedation or anesthesia settings to leverage the analgesic, sedative, and bronchodilatory properties of esketamine with the local anesthetic effect of lidocaine[2]. There are no widely recognized brand names or approved fixed-dose products for this specific combination; its use would typically be off-label or in clinical research.
