Overview

Esketamine + morphine sulfate is a combination of two medications with different mechanisms of action. Esketamine is an NMDA receptor antagonist that is the S-enantiomer of ketamine, while morphine sulfate is an opioid analgesic. When combined, these medications may have synergistic analgesic effects. Studies have shown that this combination affects respiratory function, causing displacement of ventilatory response to CO2. Esketamine may have opioid-sparing effects, potentially allowing for reduced morphine dosages while maintaining analgesic efficacy. This combination has been studied for use in pain management and anesthesia.
