eslicarbazepine acetate + lamotrigine

Eslicarbazepine acetate + lamotrigine is a combination of two antiepileptic drugs used as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of focal (partial-onset) seizures in adults. Eslicarbazepine acetate is a prodrug that is metabolized to eslicarbazepine, which inhibits voltage-gated sodium channels, stabilizing hyperexcited neural membranes and inhibiting repetitive neuronal firing. Lamotrigine also inhibits voltage-gated sodium channels, but may further reduce glutamate release, contributing to its anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing effects[2][4][5].
