Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ESM-inflammasome inhibitor is a preclinical small molecule developed by Macrophage Pharma for the treatment of liver diseases, specifically non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The drug utilizes the company's proprietary Engineered Small Molecule (ESM™) technology, which is designed to selectively target and accumulate within macrophages. By inhibiting the NLRP3 (nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, leucine-rich repeat and pyrin domain-containing 3) inflammasome specifically in macrophage populations, the drug aims to modulate macrophage-driven inflammation and fibrosis, which are key drivers in the progression of NASH.
