Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ESN5800 is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of pluripotent stem cell-derived islet cells, developed by Beijing Yisheng Biotechnology (also known as Essentia Biosciences), a subsidiary of LakeShore Biopharma. The therapy utilizes induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) or embryonic stem cells (ESC) that are differentiated into functionally mature islet cells or cell clusters. These cells are intended for transplantation into patients with type 1 diabetes to restore endogenous insulin production and pancreatic islet function. ESN5800 is currently in the preclinical research stage, with plans to initiate Phase 1 clinical trials in China and the United Kingdom.
