Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Espazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) containing esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate, developed and marketed by Arges Life Science Limited in Bangladesh. It functions by specifically inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the 'proton pump') at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. By blocking the final step of acid production, it effectively suppresses both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion. Espazole is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also utilized in combination with antimicrobial regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori and the prevention of gastric ulcers associated with NSAID therapy.
