Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Essential Pro is a paclitaxel-eluting drug-coated balloon (DCB) catheter developed for the treatment of coronary artery disease, specifically for dilatation of stenosis or occlusions in coronary arteries or bypass grafts—including small vessels—and for treating in-stent restenosis (ISR). The device delivers paclitaxel at a concentration of 3 μg/mm² using a proprietary TransferTech nanotechnology that ensures an ultrathin, multilayered and homogeneous microcrystalline coating. This design allows rapid and uniform transfer of the antiproliferative agent paclitaxel to the vessel wall within 30–60 seconds, inhibiting neointimal hyperplasia and reducing restenosis rates. The device features improved pushability, trackability, visibility (with metallic radiopaque markers), and fast deflation times due to its advanced shaft design and hydrophilic Hydrax Plus coating. Clinical studies have demonstrated low target lesion revascularization rates and minimal adverse events in both small vessel disease and ISR populations[1][2][3][4][5].
