Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Estraderm MX** is a transdermal patch formulation of estradiol, a bioidentical form of the female hormone estrogen, designed for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in postmenopausal women. It delivers estradiol continuously through the skin at controlled rates (e.g., 50 or 100 micrograms/day) for up to 4 days per patch, bypassing first-pass liver metabolism to mimic natural estrogen levels. Primarily indicated for relieving menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and osteoporosis prevention in high-risk postmenopausal women intolerant to other therapies, it requires progestagen supplementation in women with an intact uterus to mitigate endometrial hyperplasia risk. Manufactured as a square, transparent, self-adhesive patch with an impermeable polyester backing and adhesive matrix containing estradiol hemihydrate.
