Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vivesse is a combined continuous hormone replacement therapy (HRT) product developed and marketed by Aspen Pharma. It contains two active ingredients: **estradiol**, a naturally occurring form of the female sex hormone estrogen, and **norethisterone acetate**, a synthetic progestogen. Vivesse is primarily indicated for the relief of vasomotor symptoms (such as hot flashes and night sweats) and urogenital atrophy associated with menopause in women with an intact uterus. The inclusion of a progestogen is essential in women with a uterus to counteract the stimulatory effect of estrogen on the endometrium, thereby reducing the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and carcinoma. It is also used for the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women at high risk of future fractures who are intolerant of other medications.
