Overview
Alpicort F is a topical prescription solution developed by Dr. August Wolff GmbH & Co. KG for the treatment of inflammatory scalp conditions and hormonal-hereditary hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in women. It is a fixed-dose combination product containing estradiol benzoate, prednisolone, and salicylic acid. Estradiol benzoate, an estrogen, promotes hair growth and inhibits the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Prednisolone is a glucocorticoid that provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic and anti-inflammatory agent, facilitating the penetration of the other active ingredients. The product is currently being evaluated in Phase III clinical trials for its efficacy in promoting hair density recovery in women following chemotherapy-induced alopecia.
