Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Estradiol valerate + dienogest + levomefolate calcium is a fixed-dose combination oral medication containing three active ingredients: - Estradiol valerate, an estrogen, - Dienogest, a progestin, - Levomefolate calcium, the bioactive form of folic acid (vitamin B9). This combination is designed primarily for use in women as hormone therapy or contraception. Estradiol valerate acts as an agonist at the estrogen receptor to supplement or replace endogenous estrogens. Dienogest acts as a progestin receptor agonist to provide endometrial protection and contraceptive effects. Levomefolate calcium is included to maintain or raise folate levels in women of childbearing potential, reducing the risk of neural tube defects should pregnancy occur. The drug has been studied for its pharmacokinetics and bioequivalence in healthy postmenopausal women[3]. The addition of levomefolate does not alter the hormonal actions but provides additional nutritional benefit. **Developers:** Bayer
