Overview
**Estradiol valerate + medroxyprogesterone acetate** is an oral menopausal hormone therapy combining estradiol valerate, an estrogen ester converted in vivo to estradiol, with medroxyprogesterone acetate, a synthetic progestogen. Estradiol activates estrogen receptors to relieve symptoms of estrogen deficiency such as vasomotor symptoms, while medroxyprogesterone acetate activates progesterone receptors to oppose estrogen-driven endometrial proliferation in women with an intact uterus. It has been marketed in continuous-combined and sequential oral tablet regimens for menopausal hormone therapy and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in selected women.
