Overview

EsV3 is a bioactive dietary supplement and protein fraction derived from the earthworm *Eisenia fetida*. It is primarily investigated for its cardioprotective and vasculoprotective properties, particularly in the context of atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia. EsV3 is characterized as a component of earthworm fibrinolytic enzymes (EFEs) and has demonstrated the ability to reduce atherosclerotic plaque formation and stabilize lipid profiles in preclinical models, such as apolipoprotein E (ApoE) deficient mice. Its therapeutic mechanism involves multi-pathway action, including fibrinolytic activity (degrading fibrin and fibrinogen), antioxidant effects that mitigate oxidative damage, and anti-inflammatory properties that inhibit the progression of vascular lesions. It is positioned as a potential natural alternative or adjunctive therapy for managing cardiovascular risks associated with high-fat diets.
