Overview

ATHENA CAR-T (ET-901) is an allogeneic, universal chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by EdiGene. It targets the B-lymphocyte antigen CD19 and is designed for immunologic cytotoxicity and T lymphocyte replacement. The therapy involves knocking out three genes (TRAC and Power3), enabling the use of donor-derived T cells that are less likely to cause graft-versus-host disease. Its primary mechanism of action is modulation of CD19 on B cells, leading to their targeted destruction. ATHENA CAR-T is being investigated for hematologic malignancies such as B-cell lymphoma as well as autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus[1][3][4][8].
