Overview

ET-STEM is an investigational **ethionamide-preconditioned mesenchymal stem cell therapy** developed by Samsung Medical Center for frontotemporal dementia. The clinical product is administered by repeated intraventricular injection through an Ommaya reservoir. Its development rationale is that ethionamide preconditioning can enhance Wharton's jelly-derived mesenchymal stem-cell proliferation, migration, and secretion of neurotrophic and growth factors; the registered Phase 1 study evaluates safety, tolerability, and potential efficacy in patients with frontotemporal dementia.
