Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Etanautine is a legacy **small-molecule antiparkinsonian anticholinergic**. It is the 1:1 salt of diphenhydramine and acefylline, also called diphenhydramine monoacefyllinate. Its therapeutic pharmacology is principally attributed to diphenhydramine-associated central antimuscarinic and histamine H1 receptor-antagonist activity; the acefylline component is a xanthine derivative reported to counterbalance diphenhydramine-related sedation. Etanautine is assigned WHO ATC code N04AB01 among anticholinergic antiparkinsonian agents. ([pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov](https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/Etanautine))
