Overview

This is a combination of three pharmaceutical agents—etanercept, meloxicam, and thalidomide. Each drug has distinct mechanisms of action and clinical uses: - **Etanercept** is a biologic agent that acts as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor. It binds to TNF-alpha and TNF-beta, preventing them from activating their receptors, thereby reducing inflammation. Etanercept is primarily used in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and plaque psoriasis. - **Meloxicam** is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. It is commonly prescribed for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. - **Thalidomide** is an immunomodulatory agent with anti-inflammatory and anti-neoplastic properties. Its mechanism involves inhibition of TNF-alpha production, modulation of other cytokines such as IL-6, suppression of angiogenesis via inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and direct effects on immune cell function through cereblon binding leading to degradation of transcription factors IKZF1/IKZF3[4][8]. Thalidomide is approved for multiple myeloma (in combination with dexamethasone) and erythema nodosum leprosum associated with leprosy[1][2][5][6]. There are no known approved or widely recognized pharmaceutical products combining all three agents into a single formulation; this appears to be an unapproved or investigational combination.
