Overview

Etaroleucel (ALVR107) is an investigational, allogeneic, off-the-shelf, virus-specific T-cell (VST) therapy designed to target and eliminate Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infected cells. Developed by AlloVir using their proprietary VST platform, etaroleucel consists of non-genetically modified T cells derived from healthy donors that have been expanded and sensitized to recognize multiple HBV antigens, including the surface antigen (HBsAg), core antigen (HBcAg), and polymerase. The therapy aims to restore the immune system's ability to control HBV infection, particularly in patients with chronic hepatitis B who exhibit T-cell exhaustion and have failed to achieve functional cure with standard antiviral therapies. By providing a pool of functional, polyclonal, virus-specific effector and memory T cells, etaroleucel seeks to achieve a functional cure by eliminating HBV-infected hepatocytes and suppressing viral replication.
