Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MATIC-OD (also marketed as 3 MATIC-OD) is an oral combination pharmaceutical product developed by Medimarket (Medimark Biotech) for the management of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia). It contains three active ingredients: **tranexamic acid**, **ethamsylate**, and **mefenamic acid**. Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic that competitively inhibits the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, thereby reducing fibrin degradation. Ethamsylate is a hemostatic agent that improves capillary endothelial resistance and promotes platelet adhesion. Mefenamic acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces menstrual blood loss and associated pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. The "OD" designation indicates a once-daily dosing schedule, typically achieved through a sustained-release formulation of the active ingredients.
