HBN-1 is an intravenous combination therapy consisting of ethanol, vasopressin, and lidocaine, developed by Hibernaid, Inc. It is designed to induce pharmacological hypothermia (PIH) in patients who have been resuscitated following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). By lowering the body's core temperature, HBN-1 aims to provide neuroprotection and reduce the risk of post-cardiac arrest syndrome. The therapy is administered as a loading dose followed by a 12-hour maintenance infusion, serving as an adjunct to standard-of-care targeted temperature management (TTM). The combination leverages the thermoregulatory effects of ethanol, the hemodynamic support of vasopressin, and the anti-shivering/anti-arrhythmic properties of lidocaine.
