Ethanolic extract of Taiwanofungus camphoratus

TCEE (Ethanolic extract of Taiwanofungus camphoratus) is a natural product derived from *Taiwanofungus camphoratus* (also known as *Antrodia camphorata*), a medicinal fungus traditionally used in Taiwanese folk medicine. This extract contains various bioactive compounds, including triterpenoids and polysaccharides. TCEE has demonstrated antitumor effects, particularly in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells, where it induces cell cycle arrest and suppresses cell growth. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of cell cycle inhibitors P21 and P27, and the activation of the apoptosis-executing enzyme caspase-3. Furthermore, TCEE has been shown to enhance the cytotoxicity of conventional chemotherapy agents like cisplatin and doxorubicin, suggesting its potential as an ingredient in integrated chemotherapy for liver cancer.
