Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ethoxidol is a second-generation antioxidant small molecule developed by Valenta Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) disorders, specifically chronic brain ischemia and cerebrovascular failure. The active ingredient is ethylmethylhydroxypyridine malate. Ethoxidol exhibits a multi-faceted pharmacological profile, acting as an antioxidant with membrane-protective, anti-hypoxic, nootropic, anticonvulsant, and anxiolytic properties. It works by inhibiting lipid peroxidation, promoting cell survival under hypoxic conditions, and facilitating the restoration of neurological and mental activity. In addition to its primary CNS indications, it is used as part of complex therapy for coronary heart disease and mild to moderate cognitive impairment. The drug is available in chewable tablet form and as a solution for intravenous or intramuscular administration.
