Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ethris mRNA pandemic influenza vaccine (ETH53) is an investigational, next-generation mucosal mRNA vaccine designed for the prevention of pandemic influenza, specifically targeting the H5N8 influenza virus subtype. Developed by Ethris in collaboration with the European NOFLU consortium, the vaccine utilizes Ethris's proprietary Stabilized Non-Immunogenic mRNA (SNIM®RNA) and Stabilized NanoParticle (SNaP®) lipid nanoparticle (LNP) platforms, along with a proprietary stabilizer excipient to ensure room-temperature stability and resistance to shear stress during nebulization. Unlike traditional systemic vaccines, this candidate is designed for intranasal or inhaled administration to trigger a robust mucosal immune response directly in the respiratory tract, the primary entry point of the virus, thereby potentially preventing viral replication and reducing transmission. The program is supported by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) under the EU4Health program.
