ethyl dibunate

Ethyl dibunate is a non-narcotic antitussive agent that was used for the symptomatic relief of acute and chronic cough. Chemically, it is the ethyl ester of 2,6-di-tert-butylnaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid. It was developed as an alternative to codeine-based cough suppressants, offering the benefit of being non-addictive and lacking respiratory depressant effects.
