ethyl ximeninate

Ethyl ximeninate is the ethyl ester of ximenynic acid (also known as santalbic acid), a polyunsaturated fatty acid typically derived from the seeds of plants in the *Ximenia* or *Santalum* genera. In topical and cosmetic applications, it is primarily recognized for its ability to stimulate cutaneous microcirculation and provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. It acts by inhibiting certain inflammatory pathways and supporting tissue trophy. Currently, it is being investigated as an ingredient in topical emulgels to treat symptoms of vulvovaginal atrophy and female sexual dysfunction in postmenopausal women, where it aims to improve lubrication, reduce inflammation, and enhance mucosal health in combination with other vasodilatory and moisturizing agents.
