Overview

Etilamfetamine is a synthetic stimulant drug of the phenethylamine and amphetamine chemical classes. It is structurally related to amphetamine and methamphetamine but contains an ethyl group instead of a methyl group on the nitrogen atom. Etilamfetamine acts as a central nervous system stimulant by promoting the release of monoamines such as dopamine and norepinephrine from presynaptic nerve terminals. It was previously used in some countries for indications such as depression and narcolepsy but has largely been discontinued due to concerns about abuse potential and side effects.
