etiprednol dicloacetate

Etiprednol dicloacetate is a synthetic corticosteroid compound. It is structurally related to prednisolone and other glucocorticoids, designed for anti-inflammatory activity. Etiprednol dicloacetate has been investigated as a topical ophthalmic corticosteroid for the treatment of inflammatory eye conditions, such as post-operative inflammation and allergic conjunctivitis. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of the inflammatory response by suppressing multiple steps in the inflammation cascade, including inhibition of phospholipase A2 via induction of lipocortins, thereby reducing synthesis of pro-inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
