Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Etirinotecan Pegol, also known as NKTR-102, is a topoisomerase I inhibitor-polymer conjugate developed by Nektar Therapeutics. It is a PEGylated chemotherapy where irinotecan is sterically placed on a four-armed polyethylene glycol (PEG). This novel formulation provides favorable pharmacokinetics compared to native irinotecan, including reduced enzymatic breakdown and renal clearance, leading to extended drug circulation times and sustained exposure of its active metabolite, SN38, in tumors. It has been evaluated in clinical trials for various cancers, including metastatic breast cancer and lung cancer.
