Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VENTEX PD Syrup is a fixed-dose combination bronchodilator syrup containing etofylline (50 mg/5 ml) and salbutamol (1 mg/5 ml), developed and marketed by Caplet India. Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that rapidly relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to relieve bronchospasm. Etofylline is a xanthine derivative that acts as a non-selective phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor (particularly targeting PDE4 and PDE3) and an adenosine receptor antagonist, promoting intracellular cAMP accumulation to further relax the airways and reduce inflammation. This combination is approved and marketed in India for the management of respiratory conditions such as bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and bronchitis.
