Overview

Etofylline nicotinate is a small molecule drug classified as a xanthine derivative and a theophylline analog. It acts primarily as a bronchodilator and vasodilator, used in the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of phosphodiesterase enzyme, leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels, which results in relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle. Additionally, it may act as an adenosine receptor antagonist. Etofylline nicotinate may also exhibit anti-inflammatory effects by reducing airway inflammation and mucus production[2][3][5].
