etokimab

Etokimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits interleukin 33 (IL-33), a cytokine involved in inflammatory and allergic responses. Developed by AnaptysBio, etokimab was investigated for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis, eosinophilic asthma, adult chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), and peanut allergy. Mechanistically, etokimab binds to IL-33 with high affinity, blocking its activity and thereby reducing downstream Th2-type cytokines such as IL-4, IL-5, IL-9, and IL-13. Clinical studies demonstrated that etokimab reduced peripheral eosinophils and neutrophil infiltration in skin lesions of patients with atopic dermatitis[1][3][6][8].
