Overview
Etomuv MR is a fixed-dose combination product developed and marketed by Healthon Lifesciences. It contains etodolac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and thiocolchicoside, a muscle relaxant. Etodolac acts as a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins to alleviate pain and inflammation. Thiocolchicoside is a semi-synthetic derivative of colchicoside that acts as a competitive GABA-A receptor antagonist and glycine receptor antagonist, providing muscle relaxant effects without sedative properties. The combination is indicated for the management of acute painful musculoskeletal conditions associated with muscle spasms, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and low back pain. It is available as an oral tablet formulation.
