etopcoxib

Etopcoxib (KLA578-1) is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor developed by Hunan Kelun Pharmaceutical. It is being developed as an injectable formulation (KLA578-1 for injection) intended for the management of acute pain, including postoperative pain. As a selective COX-2 inhibitor, etopcoxib works by inhibiting the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins while sparing the COX-1 enzyme, which is associated with maintaining the gastric mucosa and platelet function. This selectivity is designed to provide effective analgesia and anti-inflammatory activity with a reduced risk of gastrointestinal and hematological side effects compared to non-selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The drug is currently in Phase I clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers.
