etoposide + prednisolone

Etoposide + prednisolone is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of certain hematologic malignancies, such as lymphomas and leukemias. Etoposide is a small molecule chemotherapeutic agent that acts as an inhibitor of DNA topoisomerase II, leading to DNA strand breaks and inhibition of cell division, particularly affecting cells in the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle. Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties; it induces apoptosis in certain cancerous lymphoid cells by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor. This combination may be used alone or as part of multi-drug regimens for relapsed or refractory lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), or other cancers[2][4][6].
