Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Etosys is a fixed-dose combination medication containing tranexamic acid and ethamsylate (also known as etamsylate), developed and marketed by Systopic Laboratories. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and management of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia/dysfunctional uterine bleeding) and other conditions involving excessive capillary or surgical blood loss. Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that prevents the breakdown of fibrin clots by competitively inhibiting plasminogen activation. Ethamsylate is a synthetic hemostatic agent that improves platelet adhesiveness and restores capillary wall resistance. Together, these two active ingredients work synergistically to promote clot stability and reduce blood loss.
