etoxeridine

Etoxeridine is a synthetic opioid analgesic belonging to the piperidine class. It was developed as a potential pain medication but has never been marketed or approved for medical use. Etoxeridine acts as an opioid receptor agonist and produces effects similar to other opioids such as analgesia and sedation. However, due to its high potential for abuse and lack of accepted medical use or safety under supervision in the United States, it is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance by the DEA[7]. Clinical development reached up to phase II trials but did not progress further.
