Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eucalypt extract (specifically eucalypt sap resin) is a botanical extract derived from various species of the Eucalyptus and Corymbia genera, native to Australia. Developed by Integria Healthcare, it is being investigated for its antimicrobial, styptic, and astringent properties. In clinical trials, topical formulations of eucalypt sap resin gel are being evaluated in Phase 1 studies for the treatment of damaged skin and inflammatory skin conditions, including acute and chronic wounds, fungal skin infections, acne, insect bites, and sunburn. Additionally, oral capsule formulations of the extract are undergoing Phase 2 clinical evaluation for the management of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) and associated gastrointestinal symptoms, as well as Phase 1 evaluation for potential applications in digestive complaints such as diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D).
