Overview

Eucalyptus camaldulensis extract is derived from the leaves of the Eucalyptus camaldulensis tree, also known as red gum. It contains a range of phytochemicals, including ellagitannins (e.g., tellimagrandin I, pedunculagin, castalagin/vescalagin), monoterpenes (notably p-cymene, aromadendrene, 1,8-cineole), and other triterpenoids. Traditionally, it has been used as a remedy for respiratory diseases (colds, coughs, asthma, sore throat), gastrointestinal symptoms (colic, diarrhea), wounds, and muscle pain. In vitro and in vivo studies indicate it has multiple biological activities: antimicrobial (including activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus cereus), anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-ulcer, antinociceptive, spasmolytic, and astringent effects. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve disruption of microbial membranes and inhibition of microbial growth, as well as possible modulation of oxidative stress and inflammation[1][2][3][4][5][7].
