Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eucommia Yaotong Pill is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically formulated to treat osteoporosis and osteoporotic low back pain. The preparation is based on the pharmacological properties of *Eucommia ulmoides* (Duzhong), which is traditionally used to tonify the liver and kidneys and strengthen bones and sinews. Modern pharmacological studies suggest that the pill works by promoting osteoblast differentiation and bone formation while inhibiting osteoclast activity, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing pain. It is widely used within the Gansu provincial hospital system as a specialized treatment for degenerative bone diseases in the elderly.
